Abu, or the brands official name Abu Garcia, have been producing quality fishing tackle for nearly a century. In the 1920s, a watch company based in Sweden, decided to turn its hand towards making fishing equipment resulting in the development of incredibly well engineered Abu Reels. Two of the most famous reels that emerged from the Abu Garcia Reels factory were the Ambassadeur in the early 1950′s, and the Abu Cardinal a decade later, gaining the company, especially Abu Reels, a reputation the world over, with the Ambassadeur being one of the best spinning reels and the Abu Cardinal being a ground breaking multiplier for its time. Adding to this, both the Abu Cardinal and Ambassadeur are still highly sought after today, testimony to the quality of both spinning and multiplier Abu Garcia Reels.

Abu Reels have gained an excellent reputation in both sea and course fishing. The Abu 6500 is regarded by many as their perfect reel, with many versions such as the 6500 CT rocket chrome, and the CS and CT Mag.
